St. Mary's Hospital in Richmond, Va., part of Bon Secours Richmond Health System, is planning a $4 million guesthouse to accommodate family and friends visiting sick patients, according to a Richmond BizSense report.
The 11,500-square-foot facility will include 14 rooms, two family suites and common areas. This house will supplement the hospital's four existing cottages available for patients' families and friends and is part of the hospital's larger-scale expansion plan.
Each cottage can accommodate only eight people, and there is often a waiting list for the houses, Joe Rudisill, director of project management at St. Mary's, said in the report. The new house will help patients' families avoid having to pay for a hotel when visiting for long periods of time.
Hospital officials expect to open the guesthouse in the fall of 2013.
