Santa Rosa (Calif.) Memorial Hospital expects to receive final approval for its $15 million emergency department renovation project in May, according to a North Bay Business Journal report.
Once the Office of Statewide Health and Planning Department approves the project, the hospital will begin construction in July and expects to complete the project in early 2014.
The three-phase project will increase the hospital's ED by 50 percent, bringing the total square footage to approximately 13,500 and the number of private patient rooms to 26. The hospital will also add a new triage room and will expand the waiting, reception and consultation areas. The ED will be located adjacent to the hospital's Heart and Vascular Institute.
Orange, Calif.-based St. Joseph Health System, parent organization of Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, originally planned a larger, $68 million renovation, but the economic recession in 2008 caused the system to delay and scale down its plans, according to the report.
