Samaritan Medical Center in New York Restructures Leadership to Support Growth Strategy

Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown, N.Y., is restructuring its administration as part of its strategic plan to grow services, according to a Watertown Daily Times report.

The hospital's strategic plan, released in October, set goals of workforce recruitment, growth — in areas such as primary care and behavioral health — value and clinical integration, according to a separate Watertown Daily Times report. In addition, the hospital plans to open a new long-term care facility, Samaritan Summit Village, in 2013.

The changes in administration are designed to support these initiatives and are also part of succession planning. For example, the hospital hired Anthony E. Joseph as vice president for long-term care to partially replace Richard A. Brooks, administrator of nursing home Samaritan Keep Home, who plans to retire late this year or early next year. The hospital plans to hire an assistant vice president of support service to cover the other half of Mr. Brooks' role, according to the report.
