Jordan Hospital's New Name Reflects Beth Israel Deaconess Ties

Jordan Hospital in Plymouth, Mass., will change to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Plymouth when its new Boston-based affiliate formally takes over, according to a Boston Globe report.

Harvard-affiliated Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center will take over Jordan Jan. 1, 2014. The merger received final approval from the state's Public Health Council on Wednesday.

Jordan President and CEO Peter Holden said the hospital opted to take the new name after a branding firm canvassed about 450 area residents to determine what resonated most with patients, according to the report.
