Goodall Hospital in Sanford, Maine, will change its name when it merges with 150-bed Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford to form Southern Maine Health Care, according to a Sanford News report.
The hospitals will officially merge in January after having operated under parent company SMHC, the York County member of Portland-based MaineHealth, for more than a year, according to the report.
Under the merger, 58-bed Goodall Hospital will become Southern Maine Health Care, Sanford Campus. The Goodall Medical Office Building will retain its name in honor of the hospital's history, as the Goodall family created the hospital in 1928.
