Franciscan Physicians Hospital in Munster, Ind., announced it has changed its name to Franciscan Healthcare-Munster to reflect its breadth of services and its new nonprofit status.
The new name more clearly aligns with the Franciscan Alliance brand, as the physician shareholders of the previously for-profit Franciscan Physicians Hospital sold their shares to the Mishawaka, Ind.-based health system. The term "healthcare" in the new name indicates the hospital's comprehensive services and the addition of the town identifies its location, according to the release.
Franciscan Healthcare-Munster is planning a major expansion, including an additional emergency department, a bed tower and expanded services, according to the release.
