Cleveland Clinic and The Ohio State University in Columbus announced a new partnership to accelerate and commercialize medical innovations, such as medical devices, patient services, new medical software systems, consumer products and startup companies.
The partnership between Cleveland Clinic Innovations — the corporate venturing arm of Cleveland Clinic — and The Ohio State University's Technology Commercialization and Knowledge Transfer Office is the largest medical commercialization network in Ohio, according to the release. Ohio State's TCO supports innovations from the Ohio State Wexner Medical Center, among other university institutions.
By commercializing innovations, the organizations aim to improve patient care, create jobs and boost economic development.
Cleveland Clinic and Ohio State will first jointly assess their technologies and needs to identify resources and programs they can quickly scale and commercialize, according to the release. From this assessment, the institutions will create a list of their top 20 medical technologies to focus on for commercialization.
