Ann Arbor, Mich.-based University of Michigan Health System has pushed back the opening of C.S. Mott Children's Hospital and Von Voigtlander Women's Hospital from mid-November to Dec. 4, according to a health system news release.
The $754 million building will still open ahead of its originally planned 2012 opening, but will be delayed from its more recent grand opening date due to access restrictions to the building. The Michigan Department of Community Health, which issues the facility's occupancy license, has not yet sent inspectors to the facility as health system officials expected, according to an Ann Arbor.com report.
Without the license, only 50 people are allowed in the facility at one time, meaning U of M Health has been unable to fully orient all staff members to the new facility, according to the Ann Arbor.com report. As a result, the health system decided to push back the opening to allow more time for training.
