Women's Choice Award: Best Children's Hospitals 2019

The Women's Choice Award announced its annual Best Children's Hospitals for 2019 on Oct. 1, in honor of Child Health Day.

The organization selected 38 children's hospitals for the annual list based upon a point system and self-reported data from almost 60 children's hospitals across the nation. The award criteria examined five facility areas to determine hospitals' eligibility and assigned point values between zero and five. Points for hospitals' neonatal intensive care unit were determined by their certification status, with level 5 NICUs earning five points and level 3 NICUs earning two points. Points for hospital staffing were assigned based on the number of beds per board-certified pediatric professional, with those having the least average beds scoring the most points. Each of these results was also weighted based on the average beds per physician for all reporting hospitals.

Here are the 10 best children's hospitals for 2019, according to Women's Choice Award:

  • Children's Hospital & Medical Center-Omaha (Neb.)
