The best, worst states to retire

Florida was ranked the best place to retire while Kentucky was the worst, according to a Jan. 22 report from personal finance website WalletHub.

WalletHub used three dimensions — affordability, quality of life and healthcare — to determine which states were the best for retirement. The dimensions, which incorporated 46 metrics, were weighed on a 100-point scale.

Here are the 10 best and 10 worst states for retirement with their scores:

Best

Florida: 62.19

Colorado: 61

Virginia: 60.85

Delaware: 59.57

Wyoming: 59.04

Idaho: 58.46

New Hampshire: 57.75

Minnesota: 57.53

Montana: 57.17

Pennsylvania: 56.28

 

Worst

Kentucky: 43.3

New Jersey: 43.69

Mississippi: 44.01

Rhode Island: 45.2

Oklahoma: 45.57

Louisiana: 45.88

New York: 46.49

Washington: 47.19

Arkansas: 47.28

Illinois: 47.37
