This year's Fortune 500 list featured eight healthcare providers.
To compile the 63rd annual list, Fortune examined each company's total revenue for their respective 2016-2017 fiscal years. Researchers did not consider private companies failing to file financial statements with a government agency; companies incorporated outside the U.S.; U.S. companies consolidated into other domestic or foreign companies; and companies failing to report full financial statements for at least three-quarters of the current fiscal year.
The companies comprising the Fortune 500 represent approximately two-thirds of the United States' global domestic product, with nearly $12 trillion in revenue, $890 billion in profits and $19 trillion in market value.
Here are how eight healthcare providers ranked among the 2017 Fortune 500, from highest to lowest rank.
