U.S. News & World Report released its 2024 best diet rankings Jan. 1, which includes best diets overall and best heart-healthy diets.
For the rankings, 43 experts — including physicians, registered dietitian nutritionists, nutritional epidemiologists and weight-loss researchers — examined 30 diets for nutritional completeness, health risks and benefits, long-term sustainability and evidence-based effectiveness. They also examined each diet's strengths and weaknesses and the goals each diet might be most effective at addressing.
To determine the best heart-healthy diets, U.S. News ranked the diets based on input from a panel of health experts and identified those that are best for people concerned about heart health. More methodology information is available here.
