Locales in Michigan and Oregon are among those on U.S. News & World Report's 2024 list of the best college towns for retirement.
The list, released Aug. 9, is based on the media company's ranking of best colleges and its list of best places to retire, which considers data about housing affordability, happiness, desirability, retiree taxes, the job market and access to quality healthcare.
The best college towns for retirement, listed alphabetically, per U.S. News:

- New York City
- Orlando, Fla.
- Philadelphia
- Pittsburgh
- Raleigh-Durham, N.C.
- South Bend, Ind.
- Tampa, Fla.
