The West Virginia Health Care Authority has approved rate increases for 10 state hospitals, meaning patients who pay out-of-pocket or have commercial payors will have higher bills next year, according to a Charleston Gazette report.
Jackson General Hospital in Ripley, W.Va., received the largest rate increase in inpatient care at 7.48 percent, according to the report. The average cost of an inpatient stay at JGH will now be $14,346.20 in fiscal year 2012 for nongovernmental patients.
The 10 West Virginia hospitals that received rate increases include the following (in order of inpatient care rate increase):
• Jackson General Hospital in Ripley: 7.48 percent
• Thomas Memorial Hospital in South Charleston: 6.75 percent
• Wheeling (W.Va.) Hospital: 5.99 percent
• St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington: 5.04 percent
• Cabell Huntington (W.Va.) Hospital: 4.62 percent
• Pleasant Valley Hospital in Point Pleasant: 4.53 percent
• St. Joseph Hospital in Buckhannon: 4.07 percent
• Reynolds Memorial Hospital in Glen Dale: 3.44 percent
• Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital in Weston: 2.27 percent
• Saint Francis Hospital in Charleston: 0.96 percent
