Virginia Dems Vow to Vote Down Budget Without Medicaid Expansion

Two dozen Democrats in the Virginia House are claiming they will vote down a transportation funding deal unless the budget sets up framework to expand the state's Medicaid program, according to a report by the Washington Post.

This comes one day after the state's Republican Gov. Bob McDonnell said he would not agree to pass any Medicaid expansion bill unless the state reformed its budget and the federal government gave greater assurance to guarantee its ability to fund its share of the expansion.

If the measure passed, Gov. McDonnell would be the eighth Republican governor to expand Medicaid under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
