State regulators at Vermont's Department of Banking, Insurance, Securities and Health Care Administration approved a 3.8 percent average increase for the state's hospital budgets, according to a Burlington Free Press report.
Grace Cottage Hospital in Townshend, Vt., received the largest increase at 7.1 percent, the report said. Mount Ascutney Hospital in Windsor, Vt., was the only hospital to receive a decrease, which will be 3.4 percent.
The average hospital budget increase is actually smaller than previous years, as state regulators approved a 5.4 percent increase in 2010 and a 5.9 percent increase in 2009.
This regulatory system and process will be replaced next fall by the Green Mountain Care Board, the group in charge of Vermont's single-payor initiative toward a global hospital budget.
