The Illinois Hospital Association, the Illinois Department of Revenue and other state officials remain deadlocked in negotiations over how much charity care non-profit hospitals must provide in order to maintain their tax-exempt status, according to a Chicago Tribune report.
Today is the deadline, imposed by Gov. Pat Quinn, and although no agreement has been reached yet, the parties plan to extend negotiations. "We expect and hope the talks will continue," said IHA spokesperson Danny Chun in the report. "There's nothing magical about March 1."
Gov. Quinn is expected to announce today what steps will need to be taken next to reach a definitive conclusion.
