South Dakota Gives $227k to 19 Critical Access Hospitals

The South Dakota Department of Health has awarded $227,409 to 19 critical access hospitals throughout the state.

The federal funds, coming through the Medicare Rural Hospital Flexibility Program, will help the rural hospitals improve patient safety, reduce medication errors, better handle readmissions and provide a new cash flow, according to state officials.

The grants range from $5,000 to $15,000. South Dakota has 38 total critical access hospitals.
