The Department of Health and Human Services has granted waivers to several Wisconsin employers' health insurance plans from annual coverage limits required under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, according to a Herald Times Reporter report.
Most of the approved waivers were for plans that offer limited benefits to employees and that would have struggled to meet the coverage requirements in the PPACA. In 2014, plans will be restricted from imposing annual or lifetime coverage caps. These waivers, though, protect employees from losing their limited coverage.
Since the end of July, HHS had approved more than 1,400 one-year waivers and 106 three-year waivers, the report said.
