Indiana and Ohio lawmakers have blocked bills to expand Medicaid in both states.
Indiana state Rep. Tim Brown (R) said he would not hold a vote on a Senate-approved bill on the final day to consider it, meaning it will die on the table, as have similar bills issued previously on expanding Medicaid to an estimated 400,000 more state residents, according to a report by the Northwest Indiana Times.
Republican representatives in Ohio struck down Gov. John Kasich's plan to expand Medicaid to 275,000 more low-income adults with $13 billion in new federal funding over the next seven years, according to a report by the Columbus Dispatch. Gov. Kasich was the fifth GOP governor out of the current eight who have publicly supported expanding Medicaid in their states.
