Nye Regional Medical Center Files for Bankruptcy

Nye Regional Medical Center, a 10-bed acute-care hospital in Tonopah, Nev., has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, according to a Las Vegas Review-Journal report.

The hospital, which does business as Primecare Nevada, provided few details about its bankruptcy in court documents, according to the report.

According to data from the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services, the nonprofit Nye Regional Medical Center posted roughly $1.9 million of operating income on $8.9 million of operating revenue in 2012 — an operating margin north of 21 percent. However, it only had an occupancy rate of 11 percent.

Tonopah is located about halfway between Las Vegas and Reno, Nev., with about 2,600 people.
