Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder signed House Bill 4289, a supplemental budget bill, but vetoed a part that would have boosted indigent care payments to hospitals throughout the state.
The Republican governor vetoed Section 301 of the bill, which would have appropriated up to $10 million in special Medicaid Disproportionate Share Hospital payments to select hospitals to offset hospital uncompensated care.
The money would have gone to 10 hospitals, including Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, Covenant Medical Center in Saginaw and Allegiance Health in Jackson, according to a Detroit News report.
