New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg has laid out a plan that will dish out $300 million to city hospitals damaged by Hurricane Sandy, according to an amNewYork report.
Mayor Bloomberg said the entire fast-track funding plan will include $500 million: $200 million for the state Department of Education and $300 million for hospitals within the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation.
HHC's Bellevue Hospital and Coney Island Hospital need immediate repairs, including new boilers, new electrical systems, roof repairs and other damage-related fixes, according to the report.
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo is petitioning the Federal Emergency Management Agency to grant $30 billion for the entire state.
