Kansas Hospitals Contributed $9.4B to Local Economy in 2011

In 2011, hospitals in Kansas generated nearly $9.4 billion in total economic activity and employed more than 143,000 people, according to a report from the Kansas Hospital Association (pdf).

Of the $9.4 billion in economic contributions, $7.2 billion came from total income, and $2.2 billion were from total sales.

Across the entire healthcare sector in Kansas, healthcare services accounted for 36 percent of total sales, the most of any economic sector.
