In an op-ed in the Kokomo Tribune, Indiana Hospital Association President Douglas Leonard said price transparency is a high priority for the state's 164 hospitals and health systems, but he also added the actual cost of treatment is "difficult to measure."
"We fully embrace price transparency," wrote Douglas Leonard, president of the Indiana Hospital Association. "Our members welcome the opportunity to help patients better understand the costs associated with the round-the-clock care they need, the quality of our care, as well as the value all patients receive when seeking treatments — no matter how severe their situation."
The IHA's op-ed is part of the growing price transparency movement. Hospital prices were a major part of a TIME investigative report in February. Following that report, CMS released price data of the most common inpatient and outpatient procedures.
