Bloomington, Minn.-based HealthPartners has released a treatment cost calculator, which will allow its health plan members to compare prices and costs on procedures.
HealthPartners is a consumer-governed, nonprofit system with five hospitals, 44 primary care clinics, a multispecialty group practice of more than 1,700 physicians and one of the largest nonprofit commercial health plans in the country. The new calculator will allow HealthPartners plan members shop and compare the costs and prices of various services beforehand, including office visits, diagnostic imaging, lab tests and common inpatient and outpatient procedures.
Additionally, costs can be personalized for each member's specific benefits plan.
HealthPartners Chief Marketing Officer Andrea Walsh said in a news release the calculator will give its beneficiaries a way to "compare pricing and make choices that are best suited to their needs."
