Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, the second-largest payor in Massachusetts, is looking to expand its footprint in New England by entering the Connecticut market, according to a Boston Globe report.
Harvard Pilgrim executives filed an application with Connecticut to create Harvard Pilgrim Health Care of Connecticut Inc. If approved, the non-profit Harvard Pilgrim would join a market that is primarily controlled by for-profit insurers, including Aetna and Cigna.
In addition to Massachusetts, Harvard Pilgrim covers members in Maine and New Hampshire.
