Florida Gov. Rick Scott has returned the $1 million federal grant intended for the state's health insurance exchange, which could prompt the federal government to step in and implement its own, according to a WUSF Public Media report.
The governor's office did not want to implement a health insurance exchange in case the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, which requires state insurance exchanges, was deemed unconstitutional by the Supreme Court.
If the grant is not used by Sept. 30, the Department of Health and Human Services will reallocate the funds elsewhere, the report said.
