Colorado Republicans have stalled the state from applying for $22 million in federal funding that would go toward the state's health insurance exchange, according to a Denver Post report.
Republicans said the grant application would obligate them to conform to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, and the application also contained language that superseded states' rights, according to the report. Lawmakers also expressed concern over the proposed six-figure salaries for health insurance exchange executives.
Colorado could apply for funding again by Dec. 30. Under PPACA, states must create health insurance exchanges by 2014, or the federal government will step in.
