CMS might reconsider its decision not to conduct ICD-10 end-to-end testing with external trading partners, according to a MedPage Today report.
CMS indicated it might re-examine its testing policies at an ICD-10 stakeholder collaboration meeting, Robert Tennant, senior policy adviser of Medical Group Management Association, told MedPage Today.
Earlier this year, MGMA urged the agency to conduct end-to-end testing with external partners. MGMA President and CEO Susan Turney, MD, wrote in a letter to HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius that failure to carry out external testing could result in a "catastrophic" backlog of Medicare claims following the October 2014 implementation deadline.
CMS did not respond to questions about whether it was reconsidering its ICD-10 testing policies in light of the part improper testing played in the glitch-ridden rollout of HealthCare.gov, according to the report.
