Aurora Health Care in Milwaukee has acquired Manitowoc (Wis.) Surgery Center for an undisclosed sum.
Aurora, which has 15 hospitals and six ambulatory surgery centers, said Manitowoc Surgery Center will still be used by physicians affiliated with Aurora and BayCare Clinic in Green Bay, Wis. The surgery center will also become part of Aurora Medical Center in Manitowoc County, a 69-bed facility based in Two Rivers, Wis.
The move comes as more hospitals are investing in ASCs. In September, Moody's Investors Service said ASCs will see their volumes increase over the coming years as more hospitals witness declining inpatient surgeries.
