Yesterday, Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer (R) announced the state would not create a health insurance exchange.
Calling the move "one of the more difficult decisions of my career in public service," Gov. Brewer said the exchanges, which are part of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, would be too costly and still have too many unanswered questions. Gov. Brewer also acknowledged the federal government would step in and design the state's exchange.
Arizona is now the 17th state to default to a federal-based health insurance exchange, according to the most recent figures from the Kaiser Family Foundation.
