The American Health Information Management Association has updated its Planning and Preparation Checklist for the transition to ICD-10, according to an AHIMA report.
AHIMA notes the checklist is a guideline and not all-inclusive. The list divides tasks into four phases:
1. Implementation plan development and impact assessment
2. Implementation preparation
3. "Go live" preparation
4. Post-implementation follow-up
The plan also designates a target audience for each phase to show the personnel most affected by the tasks and suggested start and end dates for each step.
