The American Hospital Association spent roughly $4.8 million on federal lobbying in the third quarter — 11 percent more than it did a year prior — according to a Bloomberg Businessweek report.
The amount of money spent in the three months ending Sept. 30 is also 13 percent more than the $4.2 million AHA spent in the second quarter of 2011.
The AHA worked to improve regulations for accountable care organizations and the independent payment advisory board. It also lobbied on a House bill calling for a repeal of PPACA as well as labor issues.
