Aetna, Coventry Drop Out of Georgia Health Insurance Exchange

Health insurer Aetna and its subsidiary Coventry Health Care have decided not to participate in Georgia's federally facilitated health insurance exchange.

Georgia Insurance Commissioner Ralph Hudgens issued a statement in response saying that he is not surprised by the decision, given that the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act has created "great uncertainty" in the health insurance market.

With Aetna and Coventry off the market, only five insurance companies will offer plans through Georgia's exchange, according to Mr. Hudgens.
