Here are the top 10 gifts from individuals to hospitals or health organizations within the past year, as organized by The Chronicle of Philanthropy.

1. $100 million to NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital (New York City)
Donor: David Koch, executive vice president of Koch Industries, a multinational and privately held corporation with subsidiaries and investments in manufacturing and energy industries. Mr. Koch is also a trustee of the hospital.
Details: The gift is for NewYork-Presbyterian's construction of an ambulatory care center at NewYork-Presbyterian's Upper East Side location.
2. $75 million to Children's Mercy Hospitals and Clinics (Kansas City, Mo.)
Donor: The Hall Family Foundation. Joyce Hall founded Hallmark Cards in 1910.
Details: The gift is for Children's Mercy to build the Institute for Translational Medicine.
3. $67 million to Mayo Clinic (Rochester, Minn.)
Donor: Robert and Patricia Kern. Mr. Kern is founder and retired chairman of Generac Power Systems, which is based in Waukesha, Wis.
Details: The gift is for Mayo's Center for the Science of Health Care Delivery. The Kerns also gave $20 million to Mayo in 2011 to establish the center.
4. $66 million to Medical College of Georgia Foundation (Augusta)
Donor: J. Harold Harrison, MD. He graduated from the college in 1948 and was a former chairman of the foundation's board.
Details: The gift was a bequest from Dr. Harrison, who died in June 2012. The gift was for the medical college to establish a fellows fund named after him.
5. $53 million to Hoag Hospital Foundation (Newport Beach, Calif.)
Donor: Jeffery M. Carlton. He was former chairman and CEO of Press Forge, a metal alloy forge company based in Paramount, Calif.
Details: The gift was a bequest from Mr. Carlton, who died in 2012. The gift was to be used for Hoag's capital campaign.
6. $50 million to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia
Donor: The Buerger family. The Buergers founded Coventry, the life insurance company based in Fort Washington, Pa. Reid Buerger is a CHOP trustee.
Details: The gift was for CHOP to build the Buerger Center for Advanced Pediatric Care.
7. $50 million to University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center (Houston)
Donor: Lyda Hill, a business professional and granddaughter of H.L. Hunt, the founder of Hunt Oil Company.
Details: The gift was for MD Anderson's Moon Shots Program, a research effort focused on eight types of cancer.
8. $27 million to the Orange County Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association (Irvine, Calif.)
Donor: Helen Banas.
Details: The gift was a bequest from Ms. Banas, who died in 2012. Few people knew Ms. Banas, a widow, was wealthy. Her gift is for the association to expand its program and strengthen its local efforts.
9. $27 million to Children's Hospital of Orange County Foundation (Orange, Calif.)
Donor: Bill Holmes, founder and owner of L.A. Spas.
Details: The gift was for Children's to name its new pediatric hospital tower.
10. $25.4 million to Seattle Children's Hospital, Research and Foundation
Donor: Jack MacDonald, former lawyer with the Veterans Administration in Seattle.
Details: The gift is for pediatric research. It was a bequest from Mr. MacDonald, who died in September 2013. During his lifetime, Mr. MacDonald donated $536,000 to the hospital and in 2011, he made an anonymous pledge of $50 million to the organization.
