Four foundations — The Josiah Macy Jr. Foundation, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation and The John A. Hartford Foundation — have announced plans to provide up to $8.6 million to help fund a new national Center for Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Practice.
The goal of the center will be to accelerate team work and collaboration among physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals. The idea is to break down the traditional silo-approach to health profession education.
Last week, the U.S Health Resources and Services Administration announced plans to create the center. Details about where the center will be located or who will direct it have yet to be disclosed.
