Nationwide, outbreak.info estimates that BA.2's cumulative prevalence — which represents a ratio of sequences containing BA.2 to all sequences collected in the U.S. since the subvariant was first detected on Dec. 14, 2021 — is 1 percent.
Weekly estimates of BA.2 prevalence from the CDC suggest the subvariant accounted for 85.9 percent of COVID-19 cases in the week ending April 9, up from 75.4 percent in the week ending April 2.
