Flu activity is beginning to rise across several regions of the U.S. including the South Central, Southeast and West Coast regions, according to the latest CDC data.
As of Nov. 4, Alaska, New Mexico, Florida and Puerto Rico were reporting high flu activity, including.
For the week ending Nov. 4, 1,962 patients with laboratory-confirmed flu cases were admitted to a hospital — up from 1,607 the week prior.
Four more notes:
- A total of 46 states are still reporting minimal to low flu activity, though cases are rising across the country.
- Louisiana, Georgia, South Carolina, Washington D.C., and Alabama are the only areas reporting moderate flu activity at this time.
- As of Nov. 4, influenza A accounted for a total of 77.1% of cases, while 22.9% were influenza B.
- During the current 2023-2024 flu season, the CDC estimates that there have been 490,000 illnesses, 5,300 hospitalizations, and 330 deaths.
