A North Carolina advocacy group is pushing lawmakers to allow cameras inside nursing home rooms, WBTV reported March 8.
Soul Network, a Charlotte, N.C.-based group that provides resources and education to avoid elderly abuse, said cameras could keep staff accountable and deter mistreatment. According to the report, the group is contacting state senators and representatives, hoping one will propose a bill to allow cameras with residents' consent. At least 13 states already have laws allowing families to install cameras in resident's rooms.
Currently in North Carolina, facilities decide whether to allow cameras.
