CMS analyzes rehabilitation hospital data to calculate the facility's Medicare spending per beneficiary score.
The score is produced as a ratio, with a score of 1.00 identifying the national average of Medicare spend per beneficiary. Scores lower than 1.00 indicate facilities where Medicare spent less than the national average per beneficiary and scores higher than 1.00 indicate facilities where Medicare spent more than the national average per beneficiary.
The scores reflect data collected between Oct. 1, 2021 and Sept. 30, 2023.
