Hearst Health, Thomas Jefferson University create $100k population health award

Hearst Health and the Thomas Jefferson University's Jefferson School of Population Health in Philadelphia have created a $100,000 cash award to recognize an organization's or individual's achievements in managing or improving community wellness.

"We are committed to supporting initiatives, organizations and innovations to advance better health outcomes, improved patient care and greater health access worldwide," said Gregory Dorn, MD, president of Hearst Health. "We established the Hearst Health Prize to create more visibility for breakthrough achievements in population health and share these insights with other healthcare professionals globally."

The Jefferson School of Population Health will be responsible for assembling an interdisciplinary panel of judges to administer the Hearst Health Prize.

Call for submissions for the award will begin in the summer and the first-ever winner of the $100,000 award will be announced at the 2016 Population Health Colloquium.

Organizations, individuals or institutions that have demonstrated proven outcomes in managing or improving the health of a population through pioneering programs that may incorporate areas such as technology, care delivery, processes, care guidance and more will be considered.
