California: Pathologists must report cancer diagnoses to electronic registry by 2019

The California Department of Public Health is launching reporting tools for the state's cancer registry, which will require pathologists to electronically report cancer diagnoses by Jan. 1, 2019, according to the Politico Morning eHealth newsletter.

Policymakers and researchers in the state will use data collected through the California Cancer Registry to advance cancer prevention, treatment and control.

The program was proposed in AB 2325, which was signed by Gov. Jerry Brown, D, in September 2016.
