2 Wisconsin hospitals treat 73 people sickened from air quality at high school

An "air quality issue" at a Wisconsin high school led to the hospitalization of 73 people March 22, WAOW reports.

ProHealth Oconomowoc (Wis.) Memorial Hospital and Aurora Medical Center in Summit, Wis., treated those sickened by the air quality. Classes were cancelled, and the school was closed for the day, according to WAOW.

Several students at Oconomowoc High School reported "breathing issues and nauseousness," the Western Lakes Fire District chief told WAOW. The fire department was called at around 9:30 a.m.

First responders arrived to find nearly 12 sick students and staff members. A county hazardous materials team also came in. The source of the toxic air quality could not be determined.
