10 states with the highest, lowest obesity rates

The majority of states with the highest obesity rates are in the South, according to a report from Trust for America's Health and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

In 2015, obesity rates remained steady for most states, with obesity rates decreasing in only four states (Minnesota, Montana, New York and Ohio) and increasing in two (Kansas and Kentucky).

Below are the 10 states with the highest obesity rates in 2015, according to the report, which was based on an analysis of data from the CDC's Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance Survey.

1. Louisiana — 36.2 percent obesity rate

2. Alabama — 35.6 percent

2. Mississippi — 35.6 percent

2. West Virginia — 35.6 percent

5. Kentucky — 34.6 percent

6. Arkansas — 34.5 percent

7. Kansas — 34.2 percent

8. Oklahoma — 33.9 percent

9. Tennessee — 33.8 percent

10. Missouri — 32.4 percent

10. Texas — 32.4 percent

Below are the 10 states with the lowest obesity rates in 2015.

51. Colorado — 20.2 percent

50. District of Columbia — 22.1 percent

49. Hawaii — 22.7 percent

48. Montana — 23.6 percent

47. California — 24.2 percent

46. Massachusetts — 24.3 percent

45. Utah — 24.5 percent

44. New York — 25 percent

43. Vermont — 25.1 percent

42. Connecticut — 25.3 percent
