Doylestown receives $1M gift, establishes endowed chair in cardiothoracic surgery

A $1 million gift to Doylestown (Pa.) Health has created the Marvin and Dee Ann Woodall Endowed Chair in Cardiothoracic Surgery, which was named after the donors.

This is the first endowed chair in the health system's 100-year history, according to a Jan. 19 news release shared with Becker's.

The Woodall family has donated several times to the health system for more than 30 years, including to the emergency department campaign and the Friends of the Heart Institute. Mr. Woodall led the Johnson & Johnson team that helped develop its cardiovascular franchise.

"We are very proud to give our support to Doylestown Health and the excellent heart and vascular program that impacts so many lives," Mr. Woodall said. "We believe in the importance of high-quality care in our community, and Doylestown Health is providing care on a level of sophistication not usually seen outside of large cities."
