As this season's flu and respiratory syncytial virus season rattles healthcare's resources, and as retail pharmacies ration common pediatric drugs because of high demand, Walgreens pharmacy manager Amy Moser, PharmD, recommends parents be mindful of which medications they need for their children.
People battling the sick front at home should seek medications that treat the whole household's symptoms "so you don't have to buy the entire over-the-counter pharmacy," Dr. Moser said in a Dec. 28 Walgreens blog post.
Dr. Moser added that homeopathic medicines and natural remedies could help infants who are too young to receive traditional drugs, and pharmacists can convert children's medicines to infant-safe doses if the latter isn't on shelves.
