Walgreens has agreed to pay $7.5 million to California to settle a lawsuit claiming a Walgreens employee impersonated a pharmacist and illegally filled more than half a million prescriptions, The Hill reported.
Kim Thien Le reportedly worked for Walgreens between 2006 and 2017 and filled prescriptions for numerous drugs, including opioids, without a proper license.
District attorneys in two California counties filed consumer protection actions against Walgreens in response to criminal charges against Ms. Le, according to The Hill.
Walgreens told the Associated Press that it has taken steps to reverify that its pharmacists are properly licensed nationwide.
