Walgreens, CVS drugstores take on physician office look: 3 things to know

Drugstores at CVS and Walgreens are being renovated to look more like physician offices, according to CNBC.

Three things to know:

1. In December, CVS opened three "HealthHUBs" in the Houston area, which offer more space for health products as opposed to other goods like seasonal items and greeting cards. Products like walkers and sleep apnea masks are among more health products being marketed, along with spaces set aside for managing chronic medical conditions through nutrition and exercise.

2. CVS' walk-in clinics, called MinuteClinics, now offer blood testing labs and health screenings for conditions like diabetic retinopathy, or vision loss from diabetes. Customers can also meet with a care concierge to access the new health services.

3. Walgreens has redesigned some of its stores to feature health services like optical, lab, hearing and pharmacy. Some Walgreens stores also feature a "health corner." At the health corner, patients can schedule appointments with a health guide or through tablets, according to CNBC.
