Walgreens recently bought, and then closed, seven community pharmacies in Ohio, according to The Columbus Dispatch.
Though the pharmacies have been closed for about two weeks, Walgreens has yet to notify customers, according to the report.
The news comes shortly after Walgreens said it would no longer work with Ohio's largest Medicaid provider, CareSource.
Any CareSource patients who used the seven closed pharmacies must determine which Walgreens locations their prescriptions were transferred to for a brief time and move them again to an in-network pharmacy.
Walgreens moved the prescriptions of the seven closed pharmacies to its own stores, which were as far as 30 miles from some customers' homes.
"Considering that many Medicaid patients are extremely mobility-challenged and lack adequate transportation, the notion that they'd have to travel as much as 30 miles in the dead of winter to see a pharmacist is absurd," Antonio Ciaccia of the Ohio Pharmacists Association told The Columbus Dispatch.
